League planning is underway and we have a few things to discuss and organize for the upcoming season. We also have some teams dropping out and new one’s joining, so it’s important that we start the season strongly.
Please make sure your team is represented at the meeting. League fees are $750. same as last season with an additional $250. performance bond (refundable at seasons end). Please bring your team fees with you.

Below is another great event to join! The night will be a classic, don’t miss out! It’s for the kids!!
The 1st Annual “SPFK Winter Classic” will take place on Saturday, January 4th from 18.15-20.15 at the recently renovated Trout Lake Community Centre (3360 Victoria Dr). We all can play softball; but can we transfer that talent to the hockey rink? Please come support Sunday Funday’s LEAGUE WIDE fundraiser directly benefiting the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Hockey players will be drafted to a celebrity Coach’s team and receive 2 hours of ice time and complimentary beer for only a $50 donation to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Fans can cheer on their favourite team and participate in several in-game events with the chance to win door prizes at the rink, as well as a complimentary beer and raffle prizes at the post game party at The Shack for a minimum donation of only $10 (kids are free at the game).

If you’re a Sunday Funday softball player and would like to play hockey (or cheer the teams on) and contribute to an amazing cause please CONFIRM directly to Klyner at klyner@telus.net and E-TRANSFER YOUR $50 DONATION to robbinsjudy8@gmail.com

Judy will deposit all donations into our SPFK account and confirm your eligibility for the draft to select teams at the Shack on Wednesday, December 4th at 19.00. THE FIRST 30 PLAYERS WHO PAY THEIR $50 DONATION TO THE MAKE-A-WISH FOUNDATION ARE GUARANTEED A SPOT. Please reply and donate promptly as this fundraiser will sell out since we only have 30 spots available.

Hello Everybody,

First, thanks  to all for another fine season completed!

Congratulations to our division winners, Shack, Balls & Mitts, Whistler Brewers, Sip & Sliders ( Pool Party ) and  Gramercy Grill. You will all receive your team prizes at the Wrap up Party at Original Joes after the finals, Sunday. Thanks to Whistler Brewing, Red Truck Beer, Howe Sound Brewing and Monsoon Coolers for sponsoring the new division format!

Great final week to the season! Thanks Ceili’s for reminding us all how much fun we should all be having every week! I respect Transformers more now.


Final standings, seeding, and Saturday’s game schedule are all found under the Playoffs tab above. Sunday’s game format is also for viewing.


Umpiring teams are responsible for providing two umpires for each game. Treat each other with respect and  remember this is a Fun League! All our regulars rules apply. Please refer to your team scorebooks for your team copy of the rules!

Game Speed: please be ready to start your games on time, hustle in/out so that games can be played in full.

-Borrowing of players in playoffs: If a team is short on Saturday ONLY, your opposition must agree to whom you pick up. All pick ups will bat last in  your batting order, complying with our hitting lineup rules. If a players plays on two teams, they must choose only one team for Sunday. Borrowing of players on Sunday needs to be OK’d by your league executive committee, Sam Payne, Alex Sashaw, Mike Ebner, Doug Whidden and Sean Hamilton. Our numbers our on the contacts page here.

First a huge thank you to all who participated in this years SPFK tournament! thanks for helping us make it the best tourney we’ve ever had!

Scheduling note for Week 11:  We have a typo in the schedule this week. Romers is to play the 4:00pm game v Eatery on the South field. Not the Bottleneck. Both Bottleneck games are on the North Field as scheduled.

Standings page will be up to date later today.

Please keep up the good work with keeping all beverages in cups and staying out of the lanes surrounding the park. Please be aware that they are ticketing around the park regularly these days.

There are still teams who have not handed in their rosters. Captains please resolve this this Sunday!

SPFK is a few days away! Please find attached the much anticipated Day 1 Schedule and the Rules and Reminders for SPFK 2013. Please circulate this email to your teams.

A few points before the tourney (please read):

· Pick up your team package at the Concession before your first game.

· Please remind your teams that drinking outside of the beer garden will not be tolerated. All of the profits from the beer garden go to the kids, so please don’t bring any outside beer or liquor to the fields.

· If you are interested in taking advantage of the SPFK bus going to and from the field both days, the details are as follows:

Saturday, July 13th
7:00am – Board bus at Ceilis Kits (corner of 7th and Burrard)
9:00pm – Board bus at Riverway
9:15pm – Leave Riverway
9:45pm – Arrive at Ceilis Kits

Sunday July 14th
7:00am – Board bus at Ceilis Kits
9:30pm – Board bus at Riverway
9:45pm – Leave Riverway
10:15pm – Arrive at Ceilis Kits

A weekend pass for the bus is available for $20 – passes will be sold on Saturday morning at Ceilis Kits and at the tourney. Anyone looking to jump on for a one way trip – the cost will be $10 and is subject to availability.

· If you are bringing donations to the tournament, please ensure that the sponsorship form has been filled out for any donations requiring tax receipts. The sponsorship form can be found on the last page of the tournament package available on our website at www.slopitchforkids.org. Donations can be handed in at the Volunteer booth all weekend long.

· If you have sold SPFK raffle tickets, the ticket stubs and cash can be brought to the Volunteer tent between the hours of 12pm – 4pm on Saturday.

· We always need extra help on Sunday evening with the tear down/clean up….so if any of you can stick around to help out it would be HUGELY appreciated.

· We will have an ATM on site from 10am on Saturday onwards.

I hope Canada Day treated you all well.
So we are 10 days away from the SPFK tourney benefiting Make a Wish.
Here’s what’s coming up in the next few days. Join in and have some fun, it’s for the kids!

Howe Sound Beer Pong Tourney
Sat night, 5;30 registration Games begin at 6:00pm sharp so don’t be late!!! Costumes are highly recommended. 32 Team Schedule is currently full. If more teams are interested they will go on a wait list and if we receive enough last minute interest we will open it up to 36 or 40 teams. Cutoff for late entry will be Thursday at Noon. Please ensure that you bring ample cash with you for registration ($30), 50/50, Pizza, Toonie Toss, Drinks. No outside alcohol please as our liquor license does not permit it. Friends are welcome to come out and support teams. The more the merrier!!!
Whistler Brewers are running a BBQ this weekend. Burgers, dogs, some Jell-O shots and maybe some other treats as well.
Balls & Mitts night at the Nat, thurs July 11th  The Balls and Mitts, is putting on a fundraiser at the Canadians game on the evening of Thursday July 11th to raise money for Make-A-Wish. Tickets are $20 and includes 3 raffle tickets to some pretty amazing prizes- Canucks and Lions tix, Scandinave Spa, Wine and booze baskets, Groundwork Athletics personal training for 2, Rafting trip, Steamworks beer package, $100 at the Shack, and much more!
